What is a birth doula?

As a birth doula, I work closely with women and families through pregnancy to ensure that you are educated, informed, and supported about birth. I provide physical and emotional support during the length of your labor and delivery. I’ll provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress, help with relaxation, massage, positioning and other techniques for your comfort. I work directly for you to provide support.

What is a postpartum doula?

As a postpartum doula, I work directly with women and families immediately following birth as you make the transition to motherhood. Think of me as an extra member of the family. I can offer breastfeeding support, referrals, general postpartum education, light household chores, food prep, gentle sleep options, and more! 

What does a postpartum doula do?

A postpartum doula provides practical, emotional, and educational support to families during the early weeks and months after birth. This support focuses on the recovery and includes things like overnight support, meal prep, light house cleaning, sibling support, and more.

When should you hire a doula?

Many families choose to hire a doula early in pregnancy, often during the first or second trimester. That said, it’s never “too late” to hire a doula. Some families reach out later in pregnancy or even after birth for postpartum doula support.

I serve the Richmond, VA area, including Henrico and Chesterfield areas. Can provide virtual support on case by case basis. 


Do you support home, hospital, home births?

I serve any home or birth center birth and most hospitals in the Richmond, VA and surrounding areas.

How much do your doula services cost?

Birth doula services start at $1,500.

Postpartum doula services start at $35 an hour.
